Woman Waiting for the Luas, Tallaght, 8.20am
Collect my black skirt from the dry cleaners,
Then party napkins, potty trainers, crackers
For cheese and wine when parents collect
All of Sarah’s new friends from the crèche:
Toilet rolls, paper towel to mop up party spills,
Foil-wrapped choc lollipops for going home bags,
Hoover bags, choc drops so our dog with bad breath
Won’t start sighing, also feeling left out and slighted:
Sunday’s dinner, a DVD I might persuade John to watch
When we’re finally alone – with his birthday princess in bed:
Something, anything, to remind him then that I still exist.
